Arriving in US after being evacuated from Kenya in Jan 2008

MY PROJECT (Intern 2007)
I will be arriving in Mombasa, Kenya on October 27 to volunteer with the Foundation for Sustainable Development, a non-profit organization. I will be working at a local organization called Camp David. Camp David promotes sustainable community development by teaching HIV/AIDS prevention and coping skills, providing support groups and healthcare, and encouraging leadership in the fight against AIDS. My internship will emphasize finding sustainable, culturally appropriate solutions to the needs of the community- making sure my impact will last long after I am gone. This is not a vacation, but an opportunity to empower and contribute to a growing program in the local community of Changamwe. I will be living with a family in a home-stay where I will be fully immersed in the culture.

Great pictures Julia !! I can't wait to see more. You're a real inspiration to me. I've been bragging about you at work. One of the guys, Mwangi, is from Kenya and he's also very interested in your adventure. By the way, keep practicing your hurdles.
